The single Our Place, released 30 November, mixes moody and atmospheric verses with a soaring and anthemic chorus. Recorded in an isolated cottage in Suffolk, the band produced a dark unsettling balance of creeping bass and pounding drum skins which draw you in. Front woman Holly Rhed says ‘We originally tried recording the song in London but the hustle and bustle of city life was somewhat of a distraction. It was really in the isolation of the country where we really connected with the song, just the band, producer and dark woodland.’ Produced by Rupert Matthews, the sparse verses create a feeling fragility and paranoia, contrasting with the lifting euphoric chorus of soaring layered guitars and piercing vocal. The track beautifully demonstrates the band’s ability for bringing a strong edge, but still keeping the powerful, yet delicate voice at the forefront of the sound.
The band will be offering 100 free exclusive pre-release downloads of Our Place prior to its release and headline show, 2 December Upstairs at the Relentless Garage.

About April In The Shade
Formed in the summer of 2009 and selling out their debut gig in Camden purely through word of mouth, April In The Shade have crashed onto the London scene playing heart wrenching anthemic indie-rock.
Within a year of being together the band successfully played a series of gigs in iconic London venues such as the Hope and Anchor & Proud Galleries; supported Manx Blues guitarist Davy Knowles at his only London show at Bush Hall; concluded a mini tour with a sold out headline show at The Dublin Castle and self released their debut single in April 2009 – Stop, along with video featuring Sparkle Motion (Metronomy, Dynamite Boogaloo). After a powerful first year they saw themselves nominated for Best New Band in Rockfeedback & The Crawl Emerging Talent Awards 2010.
After the run of gigs, the band took some time out to develop their song writing. The band has now returned with their new single, video and headline gig at upstairs at the Garage, presented by Metropolis Music.
